Arvella Louise Thomas, 14, of 4809 N. Rockwell Ave. disappeared as she walked toward an elevated train stop in Rogers Park late one night in April 1978. She was wary of strangers, but her friends told authorities she had not had carfare to get home. Her body was found the next morning in a Skokie alley. She had been repeatedly stabbed in the chest and strangled. Her clothing had been pushed up around her chest and she had been strangled with her pantyhose.
